January Week 3: Theme {sun and planets}

For the Month of January we are shooting for the stars!

We are making a space book. Here are pages 3 and 4 that will be included in the space book!

***please note: preschool licensing paperwork is in full swing! I am in the middle of all the paperwork that will be submitted for the preschool application! I am still doing preschool learning activities with my son, but please be patient with my postings! :) I will post as time allows and will, eventually, post all the activities we did! Also, I will not be as descriptive as I usually am. The postings will be more of a "Pictorial" of the activities, for now, until the application is finished. Thank you! :)******

Cut and paste. Made lines for guidance. He is 2.5 his hand muscles are just mastering the cutting motion. He went to town....he loves cutting! :)

For the planets he helped me dab dots of glue next to the numbers. We counted the planets as he glued them. And sang the song below.

Song: Planets Oribit
Author unknown
{Tune: "The ants go marching"}

Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars
hurrah, hurrah
(X2)

Jupiter and Saturn are next in line
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto make nine
And they all go spinning
around around they go

The planets orbit around the sun
 hurrah, hurrah
(X2)

The planets orbit around the sun
And on their axis one by one
And they all go spinning
Around around they go

Gross Motor Actiivity:

Place an object to represent the sun on the floor. As you sing the song above, pretend to be a planet going around the sun. During the last part when the planets spin on their orbit, spin in place as you go around the sun. :)

January Week 3: Alphabet {letter Mm}

Letter of the week box: monkey, magnet, magnifying glass, money, markers, maracas, metal, mail, magazine, movie, letter m flash card.

Letter Song {U Tube Video}: "Letter M", by Having Fun Teaching

We start by listening and watching the video of the song "Letter m," by Have Fun Teaching. E danced and jumped to the song and worked on saying the /m/ sound!

Then we go through the letter of the week box. We discuss each object. While pointing to the M flash card, I say, "Monkey starts with M. /m/ /m/ monkey." I do this for each object.

Letter Worksheet: M is for macaroni

First, I have him trace the letter with his pointer finger on his worksheet.  I model how to trace the letter M on a piece of paper with a marker. He then traces the letter on his worksheet with a marker and glues macaroni noodles on M.

Letter Gross Motor Activity: Marching
